Some brushstrokes about me

Daughter and granddaughter of painters, Maria Armengol has painting running through her veins. From her father, Josep Mª Armengol, she has inherited the rural serenity of the lands in Belianes and perhaps a sense of chromatic synthesis that characterizes her father's work. From her mother, Elena Gonazález Llàcer, the emotional power of the stroke, the poignant lyricism of  pictorical expression From her grandmother, Teresa Llàcer, she has learned the technical subtleties, the profession's wisdom, a whole philosophical sediment of life and painting.

No one can say that Maria Armengol was born completely taught. No one is. Nonetheless we can say that she has, since childhood, lived covered in paint, surrounded by paintings, intoxicated by spirits of turpentine and colour stained from head to toe.

That's why the remarkable degree of matureness in her paintings, the compelling and captivating rotundity of this first exhibition, doesn't surprise us that much.
